ILP Learning Goal: Seth can engage with an adult on set literacy tasks.
Evaluation: Seth is an Improver. Seth has participated in a variety of literacy tasks with the goal of building confidence in his alphabet knowledge and specifically making the connection between the phonetic sounds and the letter name. Seth is now able to correctly identify 90% of alphabet letters and make make the name connection with the phonemic sound.
Next Steps: For Seth this is about taking risks and making attempts at decoding words when he is reading. Seth does not like to make mistakes and this puts him off trying to sound out a new word. Seth will continue to practice literacy activities that allow him to practice making the sounds of the beginning letters of words. He will continue to expand on his language use for speaking and writing in his stories.
Written Learning Goal: Seth Green will use written words and visual language to describe his technology constructions.
Seth is able to find the adjectives, through discussion or from a word bank, to describe the technology he has achieved during literacy, and can write about and evaluate his creations.
Oral Language Goal: Seth will use descriptors when delivering his news.
During news time and the presentation of technology Seth has begun to use interesting describing words to give detail to his news and stories.
Reading Goal: Seth will read at level 3.
Seth's reading has improved over the last term, with him showing more confidence in his willingness to make attempts at words that he is not sure he knows.
